A Lot of Stuff About MeOriginally a native of Sweden, I came to the US as a high school exchange student and stayed for the next couple of decades and a few more degrees.
Like many writers, I grew up a voracious reader and books were truly my first love. I was lucky enough to have parents who supported my habit and a fantastic local library that offered summer reading programs offering books as prizes. After I won eight books in one summer, they put a limit on how many each participant could earn. Maybe that's why I decided to pen my own stories. My allowance wasn't big enough to sufficiently fuel my appetite for books, so I had to create my own.
My creative work has appeared in Wire Harp, eWag, Auntie's Notes, Inland NW Homes & Living, Women in Higher Education, Bylines Writers' Calendar, and Rita Golden Gelman's Female Nomad and Friends: Tales of Breaking Free and Breaking Bread Around the World (Three River Press 2010). I'm also a regular contributor to the literary blog Bark. You can read samples of my prose in the Writing section of this site.
Other writing related jobs include: reviewing and editing textbooks for various publishers, teaching composition classes at ITT Tech, blogging and volunteering for the literary festival Get Lit!, reading manuscripts and writing reviews for the editorial staff at Eastern Washington University Press, teaching community writing workshops through Writers In The Community (WITC), and working as an associate nonfiction editor for Willow Springs.
Writing is often thought of as a solitary endeavor, but I am incredibly lucky to have fantastic critique partners, whom I've met with weekly for several years, and the support of the fabulous men and women of the Inland Empire Chapter of Romance Writers of America, where I serve as Vice President and Web Mistress.
I have a BS in Physics from Sam Houston State University, an MS in Medical Physics from University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, and an MFA from Eastern Washington University. I spend my days teaching physics at a community college and my evenings and nights stories stories with kick-ass women, gorgeous men, and always happy ending.
